RMS PTO Objectives, Strategies and Goals

2012/13

Mission Statement: To build a strong partnership between parents, teachers and administrators for the benefit of RMS students.

Objective: To involve a larger group of parents and teachers in the RMS community.

Strategy: Provide quality programs, more effective communication, dynamic meetings, and opportunities for involvement and leadership to enhance the learning and social environment at RMS.

Goals:

1. Provide quality programs for the RMS community.

1. Continue to create programs that promote good will and a sense of community at RMS
2. Focus on “free” money events (Stop & Shop, Clothing Drive, Target, Fundraising Mall, Box Tops) to raise money for programs at RMS
3. Improve communication with peer communities (MMS, PES, GES, LMES, MES)
4. ”Search and reapply” successful activities and events

2. Improve Communication

1. Improve email distribution to achieve minimum 90% participation
2. Effectively communicate to parents ALL RMS events on a timely basis to encourage participation and involvement
3. Improve Publicity - submit photographs and summaries of all PTO events
4. Improve PTO Website (user friendly, current information, pictures)

3. Create dynamic, interactive meetings

1. Create a positive, supportive environment where individuals are encouraged to share thoughts and ideas
2. Distribute PTO Minutes on a timely basis…emailed via RMS Email distribution within one week of our PTO meetings
3. PTO meeting reminders sent out 7 days in advance of meetings
4. Create different themes/guest speakers, especially during “slow” months
5. Continue Principal and Staff reports at all meetings

4. Involve new people in leadership positions, especially parents of younger children

1. Encourage volunteers to share their talents to build our organizational capacity
2. Ensure that leaders have ample support to succeed in their tasks
3. Improve records of events for seamless transitions to new chairpeople
